Welcome back! We hope that you had a lovely 2 weeks off.

This term, we will be working extremely hard on our times tables in preparation for the multiplication tables check in June.

We are practising daily and would appreciate it, if you would support your child in practising for 5-10 minutes every day.

Please find below, the Summer 1 newsletter that explains what your child will be learning about this half term.

I have added the link for parent information regarding the multiplication check.

As always, any questions please just ask myself or Mrs Sandiford as we are always here to help.

Welcome back!

We are looking forward to a busy half term including the Mela and our class trip to Portland Basin.

In English, year 4 are first looking at descriptive language and how to use it in a setting description. After that they will be writing a non-chronological report. In Maths we will be learning about area and multiplication. Our science topic is states of matter and our lessons will include investigations and experiments. This half term we are studying History. We will be thinking about children’s lives, finding out what has changed and making comparisons between historical periods. In Art we are learning about colour theory and looking at how light and dark affects our painting. Our D.T. project is to make a slingshot car. In R.E. we will be thinking about why some people think life is a journey. In our computing lessons we will learn how to make electronic music and make a leaflet about the components of a computer. Our French topic is la familie and in music we will be practising our singing skills ready for the Christmas performance.

This half term our P.E. topic is dance, lessons are on Thursday. Children should come to school in their P.E. kit - a light blue t-shirt, navy or black bottoms and pumps or trainers. On Forest School days children need to come to school in full uniform and bring suitable clothes to change into. As the weather is getting colder we recommend lots of layers to keep your child warm.

We’re enjoying a pantomime this morning (oh no we’re not!)

Year Four: 2021-2022

Devang worked hard to improve his presentation in class last week

Sehar is this week’s WAGOLL. Her presentation in maths was wonderful and she followed the steps to success.

Leah is our second WAGOLL of the week! Leah works hard to include all the steps to success in her writing and presents her work well.

WAGOLL of the week ~ Aiysha presents her work well and knows what she needs to include to make her work successful.
