On this webpage you will find information about what we are learning this half term, key events, pictures of the children's learning and useful websites to visit. 


Year 5 will be doing PE on Tuesday afternoon, so please ensure your child arrives in school wearing their PE kits.

Swimming at Hyde baths - every Wednesday. Please ensure that your child brings their kit in on this day.


If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to send me a dojo message and I will respond within the working week.

What is life like in Tudor England?



In English this half term, we will be learning about persuasive devices, and creating our own persuasive leaflet about our favourite planet!

We will be using our research, and use persuasive techniques to convince someone from Earth to visit!


During the second part of this term, Year 5 will be looking at a short film, Laniakea, and writing a suspense and mystery narrative based upon this short film!

This half term we will be covering a few different maths units. Firstly we will be learning about fractions. The children will learn about equivalent fractions, and their relationships, and improper fractions and mixed numbers. They will also look at adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominators!


We will also further develop our multiplication and division skills. We will look at multiplying 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers, and dividing 4 digit numbers by 1 digit!



In science we will be learning about Space!


In Design and Technology we will be looking at monitoring devices, and use research to develop design criteria. 


In Computing our unit is 'Spreadsheets', and the children will be learning how to create and use their own spreadsheets for data analysis.


In Religious Education, we will be learning about different places of worship.
