On this webpage you will find information about what we are learning this half term, key events, pictures of the children's learning and useful websites to visit. 

 

Year 5 will be doing PE on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, so please ensure your child arrives in school wearing their PE kits.

 

Forest school dates will be put on Class Dojo, but our sessions are Monday afternoon.

 

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to send me a dojo message and I will respond within the working week. 

 

I am looking forward to seeing all the progress the children make during this half term!

Geography

Why do oceans matter?

English

 

In English this half term, we will be continuing reading Secrets of a Sun King, by Emma Carroll.

 

Our stimulus for writing will be a non-fiction persuasive text to convince Mrs Davison to let Year 5 have every Friday off!

 

We will also be researching an famous environmentalist and writing a biography!

Maths

This half term we will be covering a few different Maths units. We will be looking at angles and classifying them accordingly. We will be measuring angles and looking at their lengths and shapes.

 

The children will also be learning about position and shape, and reading and plotting coordinates.

 

 

 

 

In Science we will be learning about reproduction in plants

 

In Design and Technology we will be designing and making our own cuddly toys!

 

In Computing our unit is 3D modelling

 

In Religious Education, we will be learning about Green religion, and how we should care for the environment.

 

In French, we will be looking at food and drink.

 

In PE, we will be using our athletic skills to help us keep fit!

 

In music, we will learn the song: Dancing in the Street to improvise and compose our own music!
