At The Heys we are pleased to be introducing 'Ready Steady Write' into our curriculum.
Ready Steady Write is an award-winning, evidence-based primary writing scheme we have introduced from reception to year 6. It is built around high-quality, language-rich literature and provides a structured and sequenced approach that will help to further develop the confidence and independence of our writers at The Heys. All of our writing units are carefully mapped to the National Curriculum to ensure consistent progression from early years through to Year 6.
We have also introduced Ready Steady Handwrite into our curriculum.
Ready Steady Handwrite is a structured handwriting programme that teaches children how to develop clear, fluent and increasingly automatic handwriting from Reception through to Year 6.
At The Heys, we follow the Grammarsaurus spelling scheme which is designed to advance children’s spelling skills beyond phonics by focussing on morphology (the study of word structure). Children will learn important spelling rules and how to build morphemes (a word or part of a word of which has a meaning). This foundation will enable them to spell longer words, recognise patterns, and decode unfamiliar words during reading.
