Year 1 - Locomotion - Running 1

Year 1 have been learning to:

 

-Learn to run applying the correct technique to ensure maximum speed.

-Learn to run and stay in a space avoiding the defenders.

-Demonstrate a growing understanding of where to run, why to run there and when and why running fast is important in games.

Year 2 - Locomotion - Dodging 1

Year 2 have been learning to:

Learn to dodge, applying the correct technique to ensure maximum efficiency.

Run, dodge and stay in a space avoiding the defenders.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of how, where and why to dodge and apply this understanding in game situations.

Year 3 - Games – Invasion - Basketball

Year 3 have been learning to:

Develop passing and moving, dribbling and shooting skills to outwit their opponents and keep possession of the ball and score.

Apply understanding of where, when and why we pass, dribble and shoot in order to score points against another team.

Year 4 - Games – Invasion - Basketball

Year 4 have been learning to:

Apply a secure understanding of passing, moving, dribbling and shooting in order to score points against another team.

Demonstrate a growing understanding of the difference between attack and defence as well as when, where and why we execute certain skills.

Year 5 - Games – Invasion - Handball

Year 5 have been learning to:

Pass, move and shoot accurately and consistently.

Switch fluidly between attack and defense as possession changes.

Apply a refined understanding of passing and moving as well as an understanding of defensive strategies.

Summer 2

Year 1 - Health and Wellbeing

Year 1 have been learning to:

 

-Move showing agility, be able to remain balanced and apply coordination in activities and within circuit challenges.

-Demonstrate a basic understanding of agility, balance and coordination and why they are important.

Year 1 - Ball Skills - Feet

Year 1 have been learning to:

 

-Consolidate their ability to dribble the ball keeping control and moving into spaces.

-Develop their ability to pass the ball accurately.

-Demonstrate developing concentration skills as they focus on the target, their partner and the ball.

Year 2 - Ball Skills - Hands

Year 2 have been learning to:

 

-Throw accurately underarm and execute a developing understanding of overarm throwing, in order to beat an opponent.

-Focus on their partner and team members developing an understanding of the consequences in a game when mistakes are made.

Year 2 - Health and Wellbeing

Year 2 have been learning to:

 

-Move showing refined agility, balance and coordination, applying these elements of fitness in activities and within circuit challenges.

-Demonstrate a strong understanding of agility, balance and coordination and why they are important.

Year 3 - Games - Net and Wall - Tennis

Year 3 have been learning to:

 

-Throw/hit the ball into space on opponents side of the court.

-After playing a shot pupils will recover to a ready position, ready to return the ball.

-Develop understanding of where, when and why we throw/hit the ball into spaces on their opponents side of the court.

Year 3 - Games - Striking and Fielding - Cricket

Year 3 have been learning to:

 

-Develop their throwing, catching and batting skills to outwit their opponents and win the game.

-Demonstrate a growing understanding of the difference between attack and defence (batting and fielding).

Year 4 - Games - Net and Wall - Tennis

Year 4 have been learning to:

 

-Hit the ball into space on their opponent’s side of the court, creating space for the next shot that will win them the point.

-Apply an accurate understanding of where, when and why we hit the ball into spaces on their opponents side of the court.

Year 5 - Games - Striking and Fielding - Rounders

Year 5 have been learning to:

 

-Apply refined fielding skills, (accurate throwing, catching and retrieving skills) will be in order to prevent the batters from scoring.

-Apply effective decision making as they unpick the different positions within the fielding team making choices as to which positions pupils play

Summer 1

Year 1 - Attack vs Defence

Year 1 have been learning to:

 

-Run and stay in a space, changing direction and speed to avoid the defenders.

-When defending, pupils will successfully make a tag.

-Create and apply simple tactics for attacking and defending.

-Develop understanding of why rules are important in a game.

Year 2 - Attack vs Defence

Year 2 have been learning to:

 

-Move between attack and defence as the game changes.

-Move in to space when attacking and tag the opposition when defending.

-Understand the consequences of breaking the rules and not applying tactics successfully.

Year 3 - Tag Rugby

Year 3 have been learning to:

-Develop passing and moving skills to outwit opponents and keep possession of the ball.

-Explore how we tag an opponent.

-Apply understanding of where, when and why we pass and move, in order to score a try.

-Understand the importance of tagging.

Year 4 - Tag Rugby

Year 4 have been learning to:

-Apply a secure understanding of passing, moving to create space and score.

-Apply tagging to prevent an attacker scoring.

-Demonstrate a growing understanding of the difference between attack and defence, understanding when and why to apply certain skills.

Year 5 - Orienteering

Year 5 have been learning to:

-Consolidate their developing ability to orientate a map and locate points, returning to base as quickly as possible.

-Consolidate their understanding of what makes an effective team and understand how important teamwork is when orienteering.

Year 1 - Ball Skills (hands)

-Send a ball towards a target, applying the correct technique and aiming carefully.

-Receive and stop a ball.

-Demonstrate developing concentration skills as they focus on the target, their partner and the ball.

Year 2 - Ball Skills (feet)

Year 2 have been learning to:

-Apply their passing and dribbling skills in order to keep possession and score a point.

-Focus on their partner and team members, developing an understanding of the consequences in a game when mistakes are made.

Year 3 - Athletics

Year 3 have been learning to:

-Develop ability to run and jump as fast/far as possible with the correct techniques and throw for distance exploring the most effective technique.

-Apply understanding of how to use the correct technique for running fast, jumping far and throwing for distance and why it is so important.

Year 4 - Athletics

Year 4 have been learning to:

-Apply the correct technique for sprinting.

-Explore pacing and the correct technique for triple jump and javelin.

-Apply a developing understanding of the correct technique for running fast vs pacing, triple jump, javelin and why the correct technique is important.

-Apply the correct technique for sprinting individually and within a team whilst developing their technique for hurdling and throwing the shot put.

Spring 1

Year 1 - Gymnastics

Year 1 have been learning to:

-Move and balance using big and small body parts in wide, narrow and curled ways.
-Start to link movements.

-Experiment moving in a variety of ways.

-Understand the differences between each type of movement.

-Be creative as they link movements

Year 2 - Gymnastics

Year 2 have been learning to:

-Link movements and balances together, applying champion gymnastics criteria, on the floor and on apparatus.

-Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of flow and apply this to their developing sequences.

Year 3 - Gymnastics 

Year 3 have been learning to:

-Execute ‘excellent’ balances and movements in both symmetrical and asymmetrical ways.

-Link these movements and balances together.

-Develop evaluation skills as they create their sequences in pairs, making any adaptations when necessary.

Year 4 - Gymnastics 

Year 4 have been learning to:

-Execute ‘excellent’ balances and movements within the ‘bridges’ theme. Applying flow, link these movements and balances together.

-Apply resourcefulness and evaluation skills as they create their sequences in pairs, making adaptations when necessary.

-Complete fitness assessments and participate in circuits that will develop their fitness.
