Art & Design
The year 3 classroom has been invaded by bees! 🐝🐝🐝
In DT we have been accurately cutting and folding paper to make flowers for our class display.

Year 3 have been inspired by the work of British artist Kelvin Okafor.
We practised sketching the features of a human face.

We looked at the proportions of a human face and practised putting the features in the correct places.

We used our sketching skills to complete our own faces.

We have been using view finders to create studies of Monet’s water lily paintings using oil pastels.
In art we have been looking at colour. We looked in detail at paintings of the Thames river by Monet. Then we completed a small study using pencil crayons. For our final piece we used oil pastels.
In Design Technology we are planning our bridges.

We had fun this week being creative.
Christmas Crafts
We have been studying the Iron Man in English and we created our own Space Being from the text. We did a draft design and then used paint for our neat version.
We have been looking at the work of the artist Peter Walker.

Peter Walker has created an art installation called 'Peace Doves'.
We were inspired by his work to create our own Peace Doves for Remembrance Day. Our sculptures are made from card. Messages of peace are written on the wings.
We used charcoal pencils to create our own cave drawings.
For our Design Technology project we are making some new trousers for Ug.
First we planned our project.

Our completed trousers for Ug.
After our project was completed, we thought about what went well and what we could improve.
