Welcome to Year 5!
We hope you have all had a great summer break and offer a warm welcome back to the new school year. Mrs Sandiford and I are looking forward to meeting you all over the next few days, but before we get started, here are a few important messages about the forthcoming term.
PE and swimming will start officially next week – PE will be on Tuesdays and swimming will be on Wednesdays. However, for this first week only, we will do a PE session on Wednesday, so could all children please wear their PE kits on Wednesday this week.
Forest school will be on Mondays on a bi-weekly basis – I will confirm their first session this week.
Homework will be set on Mathletics and Reading Eggs each Friday, to be completed by the following Friday. Home reading diaries are to be filled in each day with the date, number of pages read and a short summary of what they have read. Half termly topic home investigations will continue to be set.
Updates and photos of our work will be posted on the class website and if you ever need to speak to us, please get in touch via Dojo or speak to us at the start or end of the day.
Please make sure all children are wearing the correct uniform for both lessons and PE.
There are lots of exciting trips and new learning for the children to get their teeth into this year which we will release the details of shortly, and although there will be a lot of hard work, we are sure the children will have a great time as they move into upper Key Stage 2!
Kind regards
Mr Hornby and Mrs Sandiford

We had a visit from the NSPCC. They talked to us about situations where we might feel uncomfortable or unsafe and what we should do if we feel this way.
